Gym at High School at Vineyard Kleinmachnow
The High School at the vineyard in Kleinmachnow gets a new gymnasium. It is planned to place the new construction in front of the existing building and so to ease it into the landscape. The outside areas relate to the street signs and gym markings with the theme: "Park & Play". The grey of the floor of the bleachers continues into the foyer of the building with a dark grey rubberized flooring material. A spacious flight of stairs leads to the school building and at the same time invites to sit down and could be used as bleachers for possible future events. Even the dark asphalt of the parking lot is mellowed with a light line graphic, hedges shield the parking cars from the outside. The existing residential area is to be redeveloped with structured interventions and fitted into a current and homogenous outdoor concept. Subdivisions that are ideal for expansion along Blueten-Promenade are redefined. The wide open park like character with mature trees will be preserved. A variety of clearly defined common action areas will be integrated into the living park. Their orthogonal design together with the geometrical development system form an intriguing contrast to the random bounty of trees. Because of the balconies and loggias no additional open spaces are planned and the wonderful, park character can be maintained. Architecture: Baumschlager Eberle Architekten, Lochau

hat factory Berlin
During the conversion from a former hat factory to a prestigious residence the two courtyards and the roof terrace of the building complex are newly designed. The main idea is to create a contrasting pair of yards, one urban-like plastered with rocks and the other a green oasis that invites to contemplate. Both yards are framed with big granite slabs. 8 planters with free growing box trees outline one yard. A 6 meter high bronze sculpture by Georg Herold is placed at the northern side, the brick wall behind covered with wild wine. The other courtyard is designed as bare gravel yard with golden honey locust and randomly placed concrete chaises. The jura-marble gravel is flatted around the trees. A sculpture-playstructure completes the layout. Architecture: Van den Valentyn Architekur, Köln

The church and care facility buildings on the grounds of the deaconry have been replaced by modern stand alone buildings. It will be an open campus with trees and lightly colored asphalt. The area close to the church and the home opens into a square,  banks around trees offer a friendly meeting place under a green roof for church goers and neighbors. It so becomes the place of deaconry. The buildings in close proximity receive a matching facade of bricks. The inner courtyard of the care facility houses therapeutic raised planting beds, planting tables and a water basin to stimulate the sensual experience. Open school yard, Scharnweberstrasse in Berlin
A distinctive, varied school yard is created with open spaces and greens, under tree hide-outs, an island designed for intense play and stay as well as areas that just ask for roughhousing and wild play. Existing asphalt surfaces are ribboned and shifted around and create a quiet and unique basis. The existing buildings and sport facilities are included smoothly. Different cubatures are placed strategically and follow the science and math emphasis of the school with one box for math, chemistry, biology and physics.

Citypark at the courthouse Meschede
The open spaces at the courthouse in Meschede are the intersection between the densly populated down town and the rural section towards Hennedamm. The "Henne-Park sits like an island within Henne-Boulevard. It is a very special spot where movement and stillness can be experienced at the same time. The western and eastern curves of Henne Boulevard create a circular path. Between Boulevard and Henne lies a green meadow with trees, two ponds and the small "Bienwaeldchen" (beesgrove). Two bridges connect the Boulevard curves.

Main focus of the plan is to integrate the building complex and outdoor space into the existing area between train station and down town Wetzlar. Spacious areas were created that meet the traffic needs as well as representative requirements. The elevated bridge of B49 presents an additional optical barrier. Using an overlapping general design of the open spaces with dominant elements the barrier is minimized. The surface in front of the forum is placed like a generous "carpet" over Bannstrasse und pulled into the pedestrian zone in down town Wetzlar. Important design element is the "Spantenbauwerk". This 140 meter long wood-light structure breaks up the barrier of B49 and gives the big concrete bridge a new appearance.
